About Us – St Paul Counseling Services
My work utilizes evidence-based methods and has a central focus on marital issues, depression, and anxiety. Personally, I want my life to orient itself to being intentional about what matters most. I find this is what clients are ultimately seeking – more meaning, more vitality, and fullness in the areas that are important to them.
Much of my work and training has been focused on couples, which includes intensive training through the Gottman Institute in Seattle and with the Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). Both are grounded in solid research and are woven into how I work with couples.
I graduated from Franciscan University of Steubenville in 1995 with a Master’s Degree in Counseling and I have been in the mental health field for 14 years. I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor through the state of Minnesota and I am a certified Life Coach through the Adler Institute
My approach is to work with the whole person, which recognizes spirituality as an essential element of what it means to be truly human. Understanding our need for grace, along with utilizing sound and effective psychological methods, is a powerful means to healing.
My faith tradition informs my way of being and living, but is not something imposed upon my clients. I have a deep respect for people of different faith traditions or for people who don’t consider themselves “religious”. Careful screening, based upon client input allows me to identify the direction of our work in regards to this area.
